Hi! Welcome to the Home for Mimics and Monsters, or, HMM. If you’re here, then you’re probably looking to adopt a cute little beastie of your own, or perhaps to gift one to a loving friend or family member. We here at HMM are more than happy to help you find your perfect companion. First, there are a few clarifying points we need to go over, as there is a lot of…trial and error…in housing monsters. I’ll let our HR rep explain.
Hand-made Items FAQ
Okie dokie. Like I said, this is absolutely the place to come to if you’re looking to commission a hand crafted piece of traditional art. Especially if you’re looking for something wonderful and whimsical. Or spooky. We like spooky here. However, there are a couple things I want to make sure remain transparent as I open this branch of my website. Also, because my work can be fashion, sculpture, or a mix of the two, I’ll refer to it simply as a Hand-Made, or HM, moving forward. Or, maybe HM stands for Hungry Monster.
1. If These Are Hand Made, What Is The Quality Of Each Item Like?
What I make are sculptures and costume pieces. While I love them and often wear a lot of them in my every day, they are more prone to breakage and flaws than something made in a factory or out of 100% leather or fabric.
Quality is still my number one concern, be sure of that! I simply want to be sure that anyone who wants to order one of these pieces understands what they’re getting into. Also, the more I make, the more practice I get, and the better they’ll look!
2. How Does Commissioning An HM Work?
Because everything I’ve made up to this point has been done using lucky thrift store finds, every HM commission will be its own custom consultation. I don’t have items made in advance waiting to assemble the way I would like, but I am more than happy to procure what’s needed to bring your dream item to life. I’m even willing to work with a preexisting item you have, like a purse or jewelry or found object, if you’d like to send it to me. The address for shipping will be given at some point during the consultation.

3. How Much Does A HM Commission Cost?
Fantastic question! I’ve found the common going rate of a North American Mimic to be two quarts of giraffe blood, but that’s when going to local black markets. With online taxing, I think- Wait…Oops, that was the wrong manual. Sorry.
The price of each item will be determined post-consultation, because the scale of the project will dictate the price. However, factoring in the cost of shipping the finished piece, all the knowledge I had to learn leading up to this, etc., the minimum for one of these commissions will be $50, with items potentially averaging out at around $200 if they’re on the large side.
4. Do Your Normal Commission Non-Negotiables Still Apply?
Yes, for the sake of my own boundaries and the boundaries of others. If these topics are your bread and butter, awesome! They are simply topics I prefer to avoid, or find to complicated in a technical sense. These are clarified because I want you to find the perfect person to order the commission of your dreams from. So, to reiterate my non-negotiables, I will not make anything pertaining to:
- NSFW (Not Safe For Work) topics
- Mecha (Excludes suits of armor. We love armor in this house)
- Demonic/Satanic topics
5. Where Do I Sign?!
Aw, thank you! We here at the Home for Mimics and Monsters are so excited to be working with you. If you’d like to place an HM commission, please use the Commission portion of our Contact form to get in touch! One of our Art and Design Goblins will respond to you as soon as they can get past the security lions, and we will happily begin the consultation.
Thank you so much to everyone who’s shown interest in these projects throughout my art journey. Without your encouragement, and eagerness to have a Mimic or other creature of your own, I would never have taken this leap. Below I will have my gallery specifically of my traditional art and sculpts, and I’ll fill it up as I go. Once again, thank you all for your support.
